Community prescription drug take back set June 23rd

To combat the rapidly growing prescription drug abuse problem we are seeing in our communities, Southeastern Idaho Public Health, in conjunction with Blackfoot Police Department, will be holding a Take Back Prescription Drug Day on Friday, June 23rd from 2:00-6:00 pm. For the event, the Blackfoot Police Department will be in their crime scene van in the parking lot of the Patriot Field Park, across the street from the Bingham County Courthouse. At the event, the police department will be provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing unused or expired prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

Community members who participate in the event will receive a coupon for a free ice cream and raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses. These prizes include an oil change, car washes, auto detailing, gift cards to local businesses and eateries, movie passes, massages, haircut and style, gas card, Lava Hot Spring tickets, concert tickets to the Portneuf Wellness Complex, bull riding tickets to the Eastern Idaho State Fair, ski passes to Pebble Creek, $80 gift card toward Black Swan or Destination Inn, and a night at the Eagle Ridge Ranch in Island Park, and lots of other fun prizes.

Important things to know

· Will be held Friday, June 23 from 2:00-6:00 p.m.

· Will accept prescription drugs from adults older than 18.

· The purpose of this event is to provide a safe way to dispose prescription drugs with no questions asked.

· Can take any form of medication at this event (pill, liquid, sharps).

· Ice cream coupons for everyone participating that stops by. Raffle tickets limited to one per household.
