BLACKFOOT — A Blackfoot man was arrested Saturday for multiple sex offense charges related to reported incidents of rape and sexual assault against two 8-year-old girls.

The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare began investigating Jeffrey Darrell Beasley, 61, in March.

The victims, now 10, both reported being sexually assaulted by Beasley between April 1, 2016, and April 30, 2017, according to a probable cause affidavit, and one said they were molested in December.

Investigators contacted Beasley on April 9. Beasley told investigators he would give the children candy and money for kisses. He admitted to a sheriff’s office detective that he molested both victims multiple times, according to the detective’s affidavit, though he denied having assaulted them for a year.

“Beasley went on to say this is not his fault,” the affidavit said. “He said he … (had) not had sex for a long time and he had needs. He said the girls did not mind. He gave them money.”

Two days after the interview, Beasley sent an email to the detective saying he regretted his actions and wanted to seek counseling.

Beasley was charged with four counts of lewd conduct with a child under 16, each punishable with up to life in prison and up to $50,000 in fines. He was also charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16, punishable with up to 25 years in prison and up to $50,000 in fines.

Beasley’s bond was set at $150,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 17 in Bingham County Courthouse.
