News release

University of Idaho Extension, Bingham County, is once again offering the Master Gardener Program. The deadline to register for the Idaho Master Gardener course in Bingham County is January 11, 2018. If we do not have 12 paid applicants by January 11, 2018, the class in Blackfoot will be cancelled.

Extension Educator Reed Findlay will facilitate the class beginning Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Bingham County Extension Office, 412 W Pacific, Blackfoot. The comprehensive Master Gardener course consists of fifteen classes that meet once a week covering all aspects of home horticulture. The Master Gardener course also includes a hands-on training portion, and class participants are asked to volunteer 30 hours of time to the community in some area of home horticulture to complete this training.

The class is open to anyone wanting to learn more about horticulture. The cost will be $80, which includes a Master Gardener Handbook and all materials. Two participants from the same household may register for $120, but this includes only one handbook. Bannock and Bonneville counties are also offering the course; Bannock (208-236-7310) on Wednesday evenings and Bonneville (208-529-1390) on Thursday evenings. If you wish to enroll, contact the county facilitating the sessions you wish to attend. Call the Bingham County Extension Office at 208-785-8060 to request an application for the class, or stop by the Extension Office to pick one up.
