BLACKFOOT — A Pingree woman accused of killing a 30-year-old Pocatello man earlier this year will be tried in August.

Melonie D. Smith is facing charges for murder and destroying, altering or concealing evidence. She pleaded not guilty to both felony counts in Bingham County District Court on Monday, according to court documents. Her trial has been set for Aug. 28.

Smith is accused of killing David Lee Davis, who was found at her residence on the 600 block of South 1600 West in Pingree in February. Bingham County sheriff’s officials said at that time that the victim had been fatally shot.
