Woman arrested for arson after allegedly setting fire outside her apartment

POCATELLO — Pocatello police arrested a woman on Wednesday after she allegedly started a fire outside of her apartment.

Emily McGarry, 40, has been charged with first-degree arson. She has been booked into the Bannock County jail.

According to the Pocatello Police Department, McGarry was reported to have started a small fire in the 300 block of West Clark Street. Officers who arrived on the scene at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday said they found a small pile of clothing and trash burning outside McGarry’s apartment door.

The fire was extinguished, and police said there were no injuries or evacuations. However, the fire reportedly caused $100 in damages to carpeting.

The incident remains under investigation.
